You are here: Home / FAQ
What ages do you serve?
3 months to 12 years
What are your hours?
7:30 am-8:00 pm, 5 days a week.
What if my child becomes ill?
If your child becomes ill at school, the classroom teacher will separate the child from the group and make him/her comfortable on a mat while we notify you to pick him/her up. Please keep your emergency contact numbers updated so that you may respond as quickly as possible to the needs of your child. Children may return to the program after being symptom and fever free for 24 hours.
What if there is an emergency?
Accidents sometimes happen at school. In the event of an emergency, our staff will administer First Aid. We will notify you of any action taken and contact you as soon as possible.
Can I drop my son off at 6:00 a.m.?
Yes you can, our earliest drop off begins at 6:00 a.m. Our regular school class begins at xxx am. Please check your child in at his classroom each day, and give yourself the opportunity to communicate with his/her teacher.
We want to create a collaborative atmosphere at Icons Cot, and that takes open lines of communication. Some of the best times to informally chat with your child’s teacher and learn about what we are doing in the classroom are before and after school.
I won’t be available to pick-up my child today, so I’m arranging for my oldest son to pick him up. Do I need to send a note?
If someone else is picking up your child, you must inform Icons Cot in writing and in person. Send us a note detailing your plans; including the name of the person you are authorizing to pick-up your child and the date of its effectiveness.
Please inform any escorts that we will check picture IDs to ensure they are authorized to pick-up your child. No one under the age of 18 may escort a child from Icons Cot. We cannot accept telephone authorizations. We will not send a child home with someone we do not know. Please introduce us to anyone who may be in to pick-up your child.
Do you have an immunization policy?
Yes we do. We follow the Ghana Health Service policy on this matter. Children should be immunized against: diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, poliomyelitis, measles, mumps, rubella, and influenza.
Can my child bring special toys into the classroom?
Icons Cot provides all necessary materials for our program; your child does not need to bring in anything. We do not recommend sending in special/expensive toys with your child—these have a tendency to get lost or broken.
Although we try to monitor children’s belongings, our main concern is the safety and engagement of our pupils; we cannot guarantee the security of any child’s belongings and will not be held responsible for lost or damaged items.
We are trying to potty train. What is Icons Cot policy on that?
We prefer that pupils enter our program toilet trained. If your child is not toilet trained, please speak with his/her teacher prior to the first class. Toilet training should begin at home.
When you feel your child is ready for this developmental step, we will be happy to support your efforts at school. Since it is common for a child to be distracted with activities at school, he/she should continue to wear a diaper/pull-up until he/she has acquired full naptime/bedtime control.
